Medicine Hat Ranch

Tovero Paint Horses

Welcome to the Medicine Hat Ranch I have loved Horses before I knew a horse was called a horse. I rode by myself for the first time at my grandfather’s farm in 1962 and have been riding ever since. I raised three children and taught them to ride. Some of my fondest memories are trail riding with them. We use to ride several miles to the lake and have a picnic. I now have the honor of teaching grandchildren to ride and spend a great deal of time with the one animal of my life the noble horse.

Some people share my love of horses and have a dream that someday they too will have their own. We here at the Medicine Hat Ranch understand that dream and hope in some way we can help those who want their very own horse. There are many breeds and many colors of horses in the world. I have always loved the Paint Horse. I have always believed that a horse is only as good as you make one. The more time you spend with a horse the closer the bond. Bonding is a wonderful thing just you and your horse, there is nothing else more fulfilling in the world.

The Medicine Hat ranch is owned and operated by my husband John and myself along with a lot of help from our grandchildren who spend the summer with us. We would like to introduce you to some of our horses and small but mighty helpers for without them some of the horses would be lonely!

Some of the horses enjoying the end of a hot summers day as the sun is setting my husband John takes a walk checking to make sure all is ok and accounted for. As the horses makes their way up to the corral for the night they can’t resist the green grass along the way.

Our little grand daughter (Amy) with her special friend Lakota Souix little Amy thinks a lot of kiss’s makes the bond stronger. Amy and Lakota are best of friends. Where one is the other is not far behind. Today Amy is able to ride with little help and Lakota is careful to keep her little friend safe!

Our grandson (Jesse) has a very special friend (Ponca) who has sired several foals. Jesse rode Ponca as a stallion not something we allow our grand children to do. Ponca was born here at the ranch when Jesse was three and Jesse loved him as a baby. As Ponca grew Jesse grew also and they grew together. Jesse was a big help in the training of Ponca and would lead him around and fed him lots of treats. Ponca was our herd sire for 4 years before he was gelded. Jesse has learned to handle and ride Ponca by himself all that is needed now is a Boost Up!

Our future herd sire is Rainmaker. Rainmaker is a black and white Tovero paint. Rainmaker’s mother was a APHA Overo paint. My husband and I are in high hopes of having many beautiful foals. Of course the grand kids are already picking out names.

Achegon (Chiggy) for short is a black and white Tovero Medicine Hat paint filly pictured on the left and T.C.Jaywalker a bay Tovero paint filly pictured on the right were born here on the ranch and sired by Ponca. If you would like to acquire about future foals or about horses for sale please contact us and hopefully you will find your special friend and make your dream come true!
